How to Remove Watermark from PowerPoint Free in 2026
Types of Watermarks in PowerPoint
PowerPoint files can have watermarks in three distinct locations, and the removal method differs for each:
- Slide Master watermarks: Text or images embedded in the Slide Master that appear on every slide
- Individual slide watermarks: Image or text boxes placed on specific slides
- Background image watermarks: Watermarked images used as slide backgrounds
Method 1: Remove Slide Master Watermarks (Most Common)
If a "DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", or logo watermark appears on all slides, it's almost certainly in the Slide Master:
- Open your PPTX file in PowerPoint
- Go to View → Slide Master
- Look for any text boxes, images, or shapes that represent the watermark
- Select and delete them
- Click Close Master View
- Save the file
This removes the watermark from all slides at once.
Method 2: Remove Individual Slide Watermarks
- Click on the slide containing the watermark
- Try clicking on the watermark text or image to select it
- Press Delete
If you can't select it, the watermark may be locked. Try: Home → Select → Selection Pane to find all objects on the slide, including hidden or locked ones.
Method 3: Fix Watermarked Background Images
If the slide background is a watermarked stock image:
- Right-click the slide background → Format Background
- Note the image being used
- Open the image in AI Watermark Remover
- Download the clean version
- Set it as the new background
Method 4: Using Google Slides (Free Alternative)
Upload the PPTX to Google Drive → Open with Google Slides. Google Slides lets you access and delete Slide Master elements more easily on some protected files.
LibreOffice Impress (Free Desktop Option)
LibreOffice Impress (free, open source) handles PPTX files and gives you full access to masters and layouts. Open your file → View → Master Slides to locate and delete watermarks.
